Back Order - PP

Hi Team,

What is back order in production  planning? As per my understanding back order means, the order status should be DLV CNF on or before 01.09.2013(basic finish date). If the order status is NOT DLV CNF as on today's date, then this production order will be back order. Is my understanding correct? if not, can anyone help me to understand this concept with some example?
